John Burek serves as the Regional Director of NAFI Florida, providing leadership and strategic direction for programs serving children, youth, and families throughout the state. With more than 25 years of experience in child welfare, juvenile justice, behavioral health, and family services, John has built his career around strengthening organizations, developing community partnerships, and expanding high-quality services that create meaningful and lasting outcomes for families. In his current role, he oversees NAFI Florida’s operations, program development, community partnerships, and strategic growth, including evidence-based and trauma-informed services such as Functional Family Therapy (FFT), FFT-Foster Care (FFT-FC), Parenting with Love and Limits (PLL), and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI).

Prior to becoming Regional Director, John served as NAFI Florida’s Assistant Regional Director, working closely with program leadership and community stakeholders to strengthen service delivery and identify opportunities for growth throughout Florida. His career also includes serving as President and CEO of Parenting with Love and Limits, Director of Business and Operations for FFT Partners, and more than a decade in executive leadership with Bay Area Youth Services. Beginning his career in direct service and advancing through progressively responsible leadership positions has given John a unique perspective on the challenges faced by frontline professionals, organizational leaders, community partners, and, most importantly, the children and families they serve.

John holds a Master of Science from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Ministries with a concentration in Counseling from Southeastern University. He is passionate about building strong relationships, developing effective leaders, and creating collaborative partnerships that strengthen communities. Throughout his career, John has remained committed to servant leadership and to NAFI’s mission of empowering individuals, families, and communities to achieve positive and sustainable change.
